Ultrabay Slim X60

#1 Post by chavin84 » Thu Mar 09, 2006 9:39 am

Hey

I have a question about the location : Ultrabay Slim of the X60.

On each pics I was able to see, I didn't see where for example a Combo CD/DVD can be insert in the computer.

Ultrabay Slim means that you can insert in your notebook the special IBM options no ? I know there is the space in the T60, but in the X60 ... is it possible ? and if yes where ? there is enough space on 1 side ?

Sorry for my english

Vincent

I have not received my x60 yet, but from what I saw in other areas of this forum it seems that the only way to use the ultra bay slim is through the x6 dock. The dock is included on some models of the x60. I hope I got that right.

Ok
If it's right you help me a lot because I didn't understand anymore.
You said, "The dock is included on some models of the x60" ... do you know a model which it is included ?

And an other question : is the video card of the T60 better than the one's of the x60 ?

If the X60/X60S model has an included optical drive, it comes with the X6 ultrabase (dock). If it doesn't come with an optical drive, the X6 ultrabase is an optional add-on.

The ultrabay slim is a battery designed to replace the CD drive in a laptop.

Since the X60 does not have a built in CD, it uses the CD drive in the ultrabase.

So, to use the ultrabay slim battery, you need to attach the ultrabase.

I'm quite disapointed with both the ultrabay slim battery and the extended battery. Both add less capacity than the 4-cell battery.

If I am serious about runtime, I would want to run the X60 with the 8 cell battery, and a 2nd battery of equal capacity.

In runtime, Lenovo say that the X60 has a runtime of 8 hours with the 8-cell battery.
When you add the extended battery, it goes up to 11.

Using very advanced math I figured out that each cell provices 1 hour of battery power, and so the extended battery is a 3-cell battery.

Okay, so maybe not, but it does show how little extra battery is in the extended batteries.

I'm probably going to end up buying another 8-cell battery and the external battery charger. Oh well.
