Wireless LAN Card - Extra Wires?

#1 Post by tmort » Fri Mar 17, 2006 3:39 pm

I am installing an Intel Pro wireles G/G card on my Thinkpad T23. I'm doing this as it is supported better for Linux.

I find that the old card has two terminals where two wires attach. I assum this is the antenna. The Intel card also has these terminals. The original card also has a terminal two which sort of a small mylar ribbon cable with looks like two conductors attaches. The new Intel card does not have any such connector.

What are these wires? Are they neceassary?

Thanks

They're your modem connections. Apparently the old card was a combo WiFi/Modem, very common in the early WiFi equipped T series machines.
