T22 crazy problem...

Hi!
Before posting I read all post on this and on other forums on net, and I found that other users of ThinkPad have similar problems, but I didn't find that any have the SAME problem like me.
Story is: I have ThinkPad T22 (900Mhz,256Mb,20GB...) for past 3 years. I can change it, but I love it so much, becuase after 3 yeasr he works (almost) like he was work first day,batery trial is about 3 hours (more than 450 recharaging until now) Well, now because I don't want new laptop, I want to fix this,and problem is very similar to other problem that I read that people have here. When I try to restart my T22 he freeze. Then I shut down it 'manualy' pressing On/OFF button for few second. When I try to turn it ON after restart all LEDs turn ON for second, then just power lat stay other LEDs turn OFF, I hear HDD working, fan, but monitor didn't start. Symptom number two: When I am starting my ThinkPad (first I described what happends when I RESTART) sometimes he start when first time I press ON/OFF, but sometimes it starts after 4-5-6..15 times

With the same simtoms like previous, all LEDs turn ON, I hear 'noise' of FAN,HDD, bu noting else happends...
I read something about 'overcharched capacitor' and 'solutions for that (press few time ON/OFF, then push it for 5 mins etc,etc, but that sometime works,sometime don't work) Also it is interesting that first start in the moring is exelent ,or in the other words when I wake up, I puch ON and T22 boots imidiatly, all this problem that I described are after that in my working day when I restart T22 or shutdown and whant to start it after 5 mins again.Also, I tried to contact IBM, but they didn't help me. Now, please tell me what to do? Is there somethink that I can do to fix it? Or some part I need to chance? And which part ? And where I can buy it? Money isn't problem, but if something need to be changed, please tell me what ?Motherboard or what? If you need more informations, I will give you here. I think that this crazy problem is for ThinkPad gurus

I am pretty sure that it is your motherboard that is going out.

HOWEVER, because strange things happen with the CMOS batteries, I would try replacing that first.

Here is the Hardware Maintenance Manualfor your system. It will show you how to get to and replace everything from the CMOS battery to the motherboard.

Change the CMOS (RTC) battery!

Turn the unit over and remove the primary battery. It's the small yellow battery you can see in thjis movie.

Soooo... Maybe this question will sound stupid for You but: Do I need to bu new CMOS battery, or just to take out existing one and pull it back, or what ? I played movie from lenovo site from link that JHEM posted and I see nothing else than moving battery out and back it in...My battery is ok, like I said my PC works with it about 3 hours when it is full charged, so please explain me with some more details what you mean when you said to replace battery ? My pc battery od CMOS (BIOS) battery ?

You need to get a new one. Replace it with a new one. I would get one from ibm but that is just me. Don't know where else you could get one.

Ok, tommorow I will order new battery, until that are there any other stuffs that I can try to do ?

If you can download the Hardware Manual as mentioned by tfflivemb2 and read the procedures. There are also some troubleshooting steps in the manual too that may be helpful. Are you getting any beeps when it tries to boot? Beeps are listed and there trouble codes etc. etc.

I have already have and try everything that I can from Hardware Manual, and I have no beeps when booting...

You need a new CMOs battery, NOT the large main/primary battery.

As I said, if you watch the movie the CMOS battery is the small, yellow shrinkwrapped one you can see in the battery bay AFTER you've removed the main battery.

The battery might have a small plastic cover over it held in place by one small screw.
