Can an entire topic here disappear or get lost?
I was searching for something on this forum tonight, WiFi cards, and remembered a message I posted previously ... somewhere.
I wasn't able to find the post, but I found a reference to it. It seems an entire topic may have gotten misplaced or deleted, is that possible?
The missing topic is http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=506 and the post referring to it is http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=845

I don't know how long the message board system here keeps posts, but I believe there is some sort of mechanism that deletes threads that are inactive for a period of time.
Homebuilt PC: AMD Athlon XP (Barton) @ 1.47 GHz; nForce2 Ultra; 1GB RAM; 80GB HDD @ 7200RPM; ATI Radeon 9600; Integrated everything else!

There was a period when the forums were first established during which topics would automatically "expire" after a certain period of time with no replies or other activity.
This has since been changed to where NO topics expire, but expirations that predated the change are deleted.
Finding a post that predates a lost topic is no trick if that post is in an active or verbose topic.
Regards,
James
