SP2 Windows Firewall and our thinkpads....

#1 Post by byron » Tue Aug 10, 2004 9:10 pm

i have been playing with the new windows firewall over the past few days and noticed that one of the thinkpad utilities doesn't play nice with the new windows firewall. here's the scenario:

i turn on the firewall... now if i go into hibernation or restart the machine when i log back it something is disabling the windows firewall.. it doesn't seem to disable it until access connections starts connecting to my wireless network. so it could be access ibm.. just not sure.

anyone else notice this? i have sp2 on another machine of mine (non ibm) and windows firewall stays on through many restarts on it, so thats what makes me think its one of the IBM utilities that is causing the problem.

anyone?

Each profile in Access Connections has an option for whether to enable or disable the firewall for that connection. Perhaps you have it disabled for the connection?
