Lenovo N100 fingerprinting question
Hi,
Its not a strictly thinkpad question. But please bear with me. I bought this new N100 lenovo. My question is where to find finger printing software for this device. I can only download fingerprint driver from lenovo site. The stock fingerprint software for thinkpads it seems will not work in this laptop.
Thanks for any info.

Well...Welcome to the Thinkpad Forums anyway
Not quite sure what you mean by "fingerprinting software." The factory preload on the N100 should come equipped with the drivers and software necessary to run the FPR.
If, however, you are asking about any analogs of the Thinkpad's Fingerprint Software for the N100, then I am afraid what you get on the preload is just about the only thing that would work with it as I am 95% that the FPR API for the ThinkVantage suite on the Thinkpads is quite different than the one they put on the N100.
Unless...The N100 did come from the factory without the ability to use the FPR because of the lack of appropriate software for it?

I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.

Thanks a lot for your reply. Well the thing is that I bought this unit from officedepot and it was an open item and was having some issues booting up, so I installed my own copy of XP. I could download drivers for everything including fingerprinting device which is a Authentec 2501. But there is no software to manage login with finger printing. In other words I need fingerprint managing software, since the driver is already installed.christopher_wolf wrote:Well...Welcome to the Thinkpad Forums anyway

Thanks again.

1) WTH did you load your own copy of XP on the machine and not run the recovery program instead? That would have installed all the software and drivers that came on the machine from the factory, including those for the FPR.
2) None of our moderators are "stupid", as you characterized Chris in a now deleted thread! Strike one!
