Extended Battery for X31 ?

#1 Post by sun365 » Mon Aug 23, 2004 1:27 pm

I am thinking of buying an Exnteded battery for the X31. Has anyone here had experience with it and is able to tell me what aproximate life they get on a full charged battery?

Also where can I find this battery somewhat discounted? It seems most places want MORE $ than IBM themselves.

Is it a bad idea to go with a refurb? How long is the warranty on a new battery from IBM?

thanks in advance for your help.

i went with a refub extended battery for my x31

bought from http://www.itxchange.com/ITXchange/

(just type in part number 02K7041 in the search box on the site)

you can pick one up for about $90 + shipping.

no problems with the battery.

getting about 4 hours or so.

Refurb

If you are getting only 4 hours on this Extended battery, then I think this is a good reason why to stay away from a refurb since IBM claims MUCH longer life than that. This is just a bit better than a new regular battery

yes, i think you're right. i'd be curious if anyone else has had better battery life with a refurb extended battery.

I purchased mine through ebay for about 55 bucks shipped. Be aware that the battery is pretty bulky. I did not expect it to be so large. Another alternative might be to just buy the regular spare battery. it would definitely be more portable, but you do lose out on the ability to keep it on for 10 straight hours total... if i had to do it all over again, i would have probably bought another stock battery, not the extended, based just on size.

how is your refurb? How much time do you get on a full charge? and how long does it take to fully charge?

I've always thought it easy to switch batteries. It doesn't take that long to hibernate, replace battery and wake up. Doing this once in 10 hours is not that much of a hassle. YMMV.
