X31 & Bluetooth?

#1 Post by sun365 » Thu Sep 28, 2006 10:25 pm

I have an X31 with bluetooth. I just bought a Blueant X3 Bluetooth headset. I tried pairing it with the computers Bluetooth and that seemed ok. But I could not do anything with it. I went into Bluetooth Devices and it shows under Audio Devices this X3 Micro. When I click on Properties and then Services I see no services here. I called Blueant and they said that my computer probably has the File Transfer Service, and I need the Headset and Handsfree service.

Is there away that I can get these services to work on my X31's Bluetooth?

Which drivers (stack) are you using for the bluetooth?

IIRC, the thinkpad/toshiba stack will support the headset profile, where the MS stack will not.

You are using the Microsoft Bluetooth stack that does pretty much nothing.

Instructions on un-installing the Microsoft stack AND (very important!!) disabling its auto-reinstall here.

Then install the WIDCOMM Bluetooth stack here

I have not tried this. But when I go to the link it shows:

Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate Software for Windows XP/2000 - ThinkPad R52, R60, R60e, T43, T43p, T60, T60p, X32, X41, X41 Tablet, X60, X60s, Z60m, Z60t, Z61e, Z61m, Z61p, Z61t

not mentioning x31. And I have an X31. Would that make a difference?

I dont think that BMDC-3 (Integrated Bluetooth IV with 56K Modem) which is basically Bluetooth v2.0 and mentioned driver is supported on X31.
For X31 better check Integrated Bluetooth II, Widcomm BT stack for BMDC200/BMDC200B CDC cards. That works with my BMDC200B.

Whatsmoe even X32 (*1) doesn't fully supports IBM Bluetooth IV.
*1: "Does not support Enhanced Data Rate due to the Hardware restriction."

Sorry, you are both right, my link was for the Bluetooth IV stack which the X31 does not support. The other link to the Bluetooth II stack is correct. The premise still remains that the Microsoft stack needs to be replaced with the much better one from WIDCOMM.
