Does anyone have any news of/from Bill?

Nonny and James will be sure to keep us up to date - but it's been some days now since the worst of the hurricane passed Thinkpad town...

Bill posted a note in one of the forums yesterday or the day before, and I got an e-mail from him yesterday. Sorry, I meant to post it but... got busy and forgot.

It said:

***********
PLEASE Note:
1. Hurricane Frances came to visit.. survived nicely, no damage except for 8 or 10 trees here at home and some small damage to rentals..

2. Standby generator has been working 24/7 but needs service..

3. No communications at all until the telephone came back at 11pm..
no DSL yet.. cable still down..
***********

He said the redhead was fine but still in pain and that so far he's still among the living and just waiting for Ivan to make up his mind where he was headed. No status report on the birds.

Hi Folks..

i am back, more or less..

all these storms (bad weather with a name) are a bit un-nerving..
lots of pre-storm publicity on all the news media..
comments like "we will all be OK" followed by "we are all doomed!"..

i'm from san francisco and i must say that its interesting to note that with an earthquake all the hysteria comes AFTER the event, while with a hurricane the hysteria builds with the news media help.. :D

my damages were one pregnant cow dead, some roof torn off my 85 year old cottages, a couple of fences down and raw nerves on most everyone..
OH!, forgot, about 10 trees down at my house..
half have varying amounts of rot in the center or were already dead, the others were uprooted and thats about it..

all communications failed..
have been crawling along with a very virus vulnerable modem connection once the telephones can back about 6 days ago and just got the DSL back wednesday..

cable came back sooner but the LAN is a mess and i could not talk to that access point/router with this desktop type computer..

and my T42p had some sort of corruption in outlook express..

ivan went to mobile bay and jeanne will probably bypass us..

so, life returns to the same state we all call normal.. :D

I think I speak for all of us in saying it's good to see you back - hoping too that Caroline is well on the way to a full recovery.

Best regards from France

Welcome back Bill. Glad to read you've survived with so little damage, sorry about the cow.

I hope Caroline fared well, I'm sure you were doting on her the whole time.

Hearing from you is the best Birthday present I could ask for!

Regards,

James

and

i WON'T ask which birthday it is you are trying to ignore..
just wish you a pleasant day.. :D

over age 60 its all we can expect since if i WAS presented with a limo full of hot college chicks i would probably not be able to handle more than about half of them at any one time..
