Omnipass v5 for Lenovo N100 (Vista Business)

#3 Post by eclektiklp » Mon Apr 02, 2007 5:02 am

Hello, I have the same problems, Lenovo doesn't supply this software as a "exe" . It is supplied in the recovery dvds as a image. It's unfortunetly unuseful for us, I think you'll agree :)
Did you try to test the donwnload version on softex site ? (v5.00.27) with authentec plugin of course ?
I tried to install Omnipass v5.00.20 & associated Authentec plugin but I experience an error after vista login, during loading, as a "opvapp.exe". I think this app make link between fingerprint reader and Omnipass. Moreover, I think this app is modified by lenovo to be compatible with N100.(preloaded vista).
If you still are interested by a Omnipass version, contact me.

Actually it is an exe. Its hidden under a folder on your C: drive ( dont remember if the folder is called programs or setup or something). So if you have cleaned your drive, here what you need to do.
1) Run through the recovery process and get your HDD to the factory state.
2) Backup all the folders from C: drive that have installer programs.

3) Reinstall a clean OS. Install all the programs from the backup. I just went with a few selected ones like Omnipass, the hotkey program, etc.

This is assuming you made backup disks before modifying the system

Thanks Jacks_b. We wanted exe file without reinstalling with backup discs. Install with Original Vista boot cd and exe files.

has anyone been able to get omnipass working on vista? if so, can you please provide somewhat detailed instructions on how to do this. It's the last hurdle for me - i've got the camera working, even got BT sync with my palm, but keep running into dead ends with how to get omnipass to work, i've even tried running the enrolment wizard in compatability mode, but no luck. Do we need an updated (to version 5?) file?

all help is greatly appreciated and need

Here's the story from Omnipass tech support themselves (truncated):

You have an OEM version of Omnipass that only supports the operating system it was preinstalled on.

You will need to go through our upgrade program to get our new Omnipass 5 series that now works with XP and Vista.

We offer all customers who have a previous version of Omnipass a 50% discount of the latest version. You can purchase the new 5.0 series for $25 + $5 processing. To purchase the new version please contact sales at 512-452-8836 ext. 221 or sales@softexinc.com and make sure that you tell them that you have a previous ver sion of Omnipass and would like to purchase the latest 5.0 series of OmniPass.
