Please recommend a network-based backup software

#1 Post by gte204i » Wed Sep 15, 2004 8:29 pm

Alright, someone out there knows what I need...

I have a T42 with winXP and a desktop with win2000. They share a home network.

I want to back up a documents folder on the T42 to the win2000 machine a couple of times a day. I am connected to the internet at most times throughout the day with the T42 and at all times with the desktop.

The T42 is not necessarily always on the same "intranet" as the desktop, but it can be for the purposes of backup.

I don't need anything fancy like revision control. Just a simple backup of the files that have been modified since the last backup.

What kind of server/client software do I need to do this?

I'm willing to pay, but not that much ... free is even better

Thanks for the suggestions.

How about a simple batch file to copy the newer files over the old ones on the desktop? You can use the AT command or the scheduled events GUI. Both tools are built in, so free is what you pay!

Just one way to approach it.
