Fn F5 Ubuntu 7.04 + T40 atheros a/b/g -> doesn't work

#1 Post by okkyn » Tue May 08, 2007 9:53 pm

Hi,

I just installed Ubuntu 'feisty' on my T40. Wifi worked straight away, but the Fn F5 button seems doesn't work, I cannot turn off my wifi. Does anybody has the same experience? My wifi card is IBM a/b/g (atheros, version 1).
:?

This button combination does not produce anything on my ubuntu install on a t40p neither.

I read somewhere that an apt package "tpb" should do the trick, but don't know if this affects the dialogs or just tells the OS to show information when you change sound volume/screen backlight etc.

Edit: I found this after a little more searching: http://www.columbia.edu/~em36/ubuntubre ... lessbutton
Might be of help; haven't tried it myself though.

okkyn,

when you say your atheros a/b/g I wifi "worked straight away", you mean you didn't have to do any 'setup'? Because I have a T42 with the same card and I can't get it to work . . . any hints?

Hi Paul,

Yes, I didn't do any setup. It should be shown in restricted driver dialog.
