The millionaires notebook.....

#1 Post by Hotbrick » Tue May 22, 2007 5:20 am

This must be a laptop just to show off with, I can't even find any specs. Probably not important.... 8)

Bwa-Ha!

I almost suspect it's an elaborate joke, but they put too much time and effort into it for that to be the case..

Reminds me of the restaurant in the Steve Martin Movie (Father of the Bride?) named E-dee-oh - spelled Idiot.

I really like the Ego PCs, sure i wouldn't buy one and they are not for techies but its nice to see a company taking a change with notebook design for those that want something a bit funky; if they want to get me interested though they'll need to stick a decent trackpoint on it.

Those who want an exclusive laptop to show off with will get a ThinkPad option soon.

Looks exactly like my brothers old piece-of-crap very old Gateway laptop running WIN ME. Minus the "bling."

Exactly what I was going to say. It is so thick and it looks ugly IMHO compared not only to thinkpads, but other present-day laptops too.

I'm sorry - I appreciate that someone is trying to rethink the laptop and all, but while the outside is passably fashionable the inside looks like cheap plastic crap. And I bet the specs are lousy too.

I'm sure they are selling very well - the world of the riche is full of folks with more money than sense.

The computer looks like crap. Besides, who needs to carry their laptop like a bag when they can just put it in a bag?

Seems to suit Paris Hilton kinda people, matching dress, shoes, dog and a notebook.
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.

I hear the Paris Hilton edition of this notebook has the battery life shortened to 23 minutes (down from 45) and includes a special electronic alarm bell.

if any idiot buys that $1M laptop he won't have his $$ for long..
what a waste of prefectly good cash..
i would rather buy $998,000 worth of US Government bonds or a decent equity portfolio rather than waste cash on a device that'll be obsolete within a year or two..

It depends - if i had $1000000 then I wouldn't buy it - but if your someone like Bill Gates then you might as well just to show off since you cant spend all your money anyway.

It's a tulip, from tulip computers ( dutch brand - had his highs in the 90's here in europe, dunno bout the US). The monogram on top is a dead giveaway. They - like commodore - have been gone for a long time after beeing the "bomb" back in the days.

But yeah, they now enter the market als fashionable laptop makers, for crazy prices. But as you know: "as long as it's exclusive, some people will buy it".

Jut for laughs, google Tulip computers and you'll see where that crazy stuff has come from. Another reason for the crazyness is the legalisation of drugs in the Netherlands.
