Question about Intel 2200bg & PCI FanControl

#1 Post by agarza » Tue May 29, 2007 12:35 pm

In my T42, the bottom of the laptop just under the touchpad, WLAN (2200bg) and Southbridge, it gets TOO HOOT. I can't tell the temperature since the TPFanControl does not show the PCI temperature (which is a sensor just below the WLAN Card)

Now, to the questions:
1. Is the 2200bg suppose to produce that enormous heat so that the bottom of the laptop?
2. Is TPFanControl supposed to be able to read the PCI sensor and all the sensors as if the laptop were a T43:
CPU 46°C (0x78)
APS 47°C (0x79)
PCM 36°C (0x7a)
GPU 51°C (0x7b)
BAT 38°C (0x7c)
BAT 33°C (0x7e)
BUS 0°C (0xc0)
PCI 0°C (0xc1) <- (Maybe the sensor screwed-up itself)
PWR 0°C (0xc2)
XC3 0°C (0xc3)
3. If the answer to Q1 is Yes, what's the recommended WLAN card to use on a T42p that does not produce that amount of heat?
Current
T440p:
Core i7-4710MQ|8GB RAM|Intel SSD S3700 200GB | 14.1" IPS FHD | Windows 7 Pro, T450 Trackpad, Backlit keyboard, 2nd Caddy
Past: T420 HD+, X61s XGA, T61 14" SXGA+, T42p 14.1 SXGA+, T30, A22e

I'm not that familiar with TP fancontrol, but I can confirm that the Intel wireless gets hot. Not that I have noticed the heat below the touchpad, but the fan simply runs more often (and faster...) when wireless is on. At least in my case...
