I saw a previous thread here about creating a bootable XP cdrom from the partition on my thinkpad. I followed the instructions and have created said cdrom at SP2.
I now want to install it on a virtual machine. I have created it and when I power it up with the cdrom in drive, setup starts.
I get a status message of "loading files (Windows executive)" and then a screen "insert disk labelled Windows XP Professional dcrom into drive A:"
I do not have a drive A: (floppy).
I have installed windows 2000 with no problem in a virtual machine.
Is it looking for extra drivers eg it thinks I have SCSi (I do not). Any ideas?
I have a standard issue T41 with 1GB of memory.
Regards.

Do you have a virtual floppy drive enabled in the VMware image? I usually disable that, don't have it, won't use it. (Using 5.5.3 on RHEL5.)
