X60, X60s BIOS v2.14 and 4GB Maximum RAM?

#1 Post by crazyfrog » Mon Jan 14, 2008 4:09 pm

I happen to notice that the latest X60/X60s BIOS fixed a memory address issue. Lenovo says in summary of changes for the BIOS update:

(Fix) Memory address more than 4GB can't be accessed under Vista WindowsPE. (BIOS)

Does that mean X60/X60s with Vista 64-bit can use up to 4GB memory now?

Windows Vista will show it as 4GB in system properties but wouldn't be utilizing it. Santa Rosa chipset based Thinkpads are the one that address and use full 4GB under 64-bit operating system.

Santa Rosa is the code-name for the Intel 965 mobile chipset.

Check the Device Manager, under System Hardware. Should have something like "Mobile Intel PM 965..." listed there.

The older "Napa" chipset is Intel's 945 mobile edition.
