ThinkPad 600E with Earthmate GPS

#1 Post by askolepaul » Tue Dec 21, 2004 12:30 am

I've retired my ThinkPad 600E but thought I could use it with an early version of Earthmate, using Street Atlas USA 6.0. However I've found that I'm unable to load the software beyond the 47% progression window.

Somewhere, sometime ago, I was doing some idle time searches on the web and I recall someone mentioning that there was a problem installing Earthmate software on a Thinkpad. However I did not save that info and can't find it now. Does anyone out there know of an issue with Thinkpads and Earthmate? If there is an issue I would think it only pertained to the earlier models, both of the Thinkpads and the Earthmates, both of which I have.

Would appreciate any help here. Thanks.

I put an Earthmate/Street Atlas system on a 760XL.

It worked OK for directions, but I couldn't get the sound to work properly. This was a problem, since we wanted to have it talk somebody into a destination.

Btw, the 760XL had ViaVoice installed and working.

Hope this helps.
