Mobo's

#1 Post by Doonster » Sun Aug 03, 2008 9:52 pm

Um what mobos will fit in my T40 shell it does not matter if the things wont line up as ill make it fit by modding it.

the t61 dimensions make it look like its to tall the t43 looks like my best bet but finding a 2nd hand one of them with the fireGL is like looking for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. i found one but for 2500RMB!!!! lol i can get a whole new chinese branded p4 dual core with 250gb HDD for that lol

but you get what you pay for lol

1. whats the best processor i can put on a T42P???? also when upgrading i have read about this long fan thing will it fit on a t42 mobo or am i going to have to do some more modding?

2. i really want to use my lapsy for PS bridge and storing the photo shoots on it will it work better with osx for me or not really just stick with SP3 to keep the speed as vista will kill this laptop i mean my quad core gaming machine don't like vista that much but DX10 is the way forward so.......

last but not leased can i fit a better screen into my t40 shell as this one when i look at some of my photos is weak like its just crap lol you can tell a bad LCD from a photo and this sucks more [censored] then a gay guy

well thanks hope you can answer me im going to look around at the computer places today and see if i can find some poor IBM's laying in the corner that i can rob a mobo out of :)

The fastest CPU you can put on your board is Dothan PM 765, 2.1Ghz. Long fan will be a must with this upgrade, but it requires no additional drilling or modding the machine otherwise.

The ability of your machine to run Vista depends on its GPU and RAM. Personally, I'd stay away from it.

Hope this helps.

You're asking quite a few questions, but I don't understand all of them...

The same CPU that I've mentioned would work in a T41.

T60, T30 and T4x don't have interchangeable CPUs or boards with one another.

Furthermore, no parts are interchangeable between T30 and T60.

On information what LCDs you can use in different machines, use the "search" function on this forum, or at least post the question as "can I use the LCD from my T30 in a T42", or something like that...

Good luck.
