IBM Direct order change policy?

#1 Post by rgbyhkr » Thu Jun 03, 2004 7:41 am

Just a quick question for anyone who knows. I know from previous experience that if you place an order with Dell and then make a change to that order at some point, even if the change is made before the unit is built (in my case several weeks before the unit was built due to a new part that was not yet available), the order must be re-submitted and you have to go to the back of the line. Anyone know IBM Direct's policy on this?

I have a T42 on order that probably won't ship for a few weeks (3 week delay in the base config - 2378EYU: 1.8GHz, 15" SXGA+, 64MB ATI 9600, etc). I'm now considering taking advantage of one of the port replicator deals but I'm not sure if this will put my order back to the end of the line. Since it's not really a change to the configuration, I'm thinking it shouldn't but does anyone know?

Have you ordered the T42 with one of the credit cards discount or the regular sale? If so, those offers are not combinable with other offers. So if you change your order you might lose you sale price. Definetely talk to an IBM sale rep.

Unfortunately, my configuration wasn't one of those available on any of the MC/Discover/Visa discount sites so I had to do a "Let me build it".

Call IBM and take care of it that way. I believe it won't change your standing, but the Sales Rep will actually know the answer to this one.
