suspend to hibernate not working

#1 Post by ivan » Wed Jan 12, 2005 12:35 pm

i cannot get my x40 to go from suspend to hibernate when running on batteries after the time difference between the suspend and hibernate has elapsed (oddly it does work when on AC power). hibernate itself works if i send it into that mode, or if i set it up to go into hibernate upon shutting LCD etc...

so the only problem is the transition from suspend to hibernate while on batteries.

i've tried:

- changing various options in power options in control panel and battery maximizer wizard

- changing options in Bios as well as returning to defaults

- unistalling the IBM power mgmt software and trying just with the Windows power mgmt (problem persisted)

- updating Bios and IBM Power Mgmt. software

I'm clueless, especially since this transition works with the AC power.

please help, thanx

-Ivan

Had this problem as well for months and No one at IBM seemed to know the answer.
But thanks to "Yavor" a member on these forums. It's fixed.
you need to go in to the BIOS
Config> Power> Timer Wake with battery Operation> enable it
you will get a warning screen select yes and you are all set.

It will now wake up when in stand-by to then go into Hibernation after the elapsed time.

eriqesque, ivan,

I am only happy to help, I busted my brains for a couple of months before clueing in on the solution (with the help of IBM). Weird that this setting is controlled by BIOS (after bypassing a gargantuan warning) rather than the power-saver modes on top of IBM's software.

Happy that this community exists though, a lot of knowledge laying around...
