T60p Ultimate 64 bit Lenovo and 7zio53ww.exe Intel Matrix
T60p Ultimate 64 bit Lenovo and 7zio53ww.exe Intel Matrix
I have a T60p 2613ETU with Vista Ultimate 64 bit Intel(R) 8280 (ICH7 Family) Ultra ATA Storage Controllers - 27DF dated 6/21/2006 Driver Version 6.0.6001.18000 when I try to install the latest Lenovo Intel Matrix Storage Manager Driver for Windows Vista (64-bit) Version: 8.6.0.1007 Release Date: 2008/12/03 I am told my driver is up to date. What gives? Non of the drivers in the Lenovo drivers appear to be for a ICH7 or for a 8280 device...
How do I get the newest drivers to load, or do I?
Thanks'
David

ThinkPad T60p T7600 4 GB RAM 320 GB 7200 RPM HD Vista Ultimate Service Pack 2 5.1 4.7 4.2 4.6 5.8After having unpacked the Intel Matrix Storage Driver launch Device Manager -> IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers -> Intel (R) 828... -> Driver -> Update driver -> Browse my computer for driver software -> enter the path C:\DRIVERS\VISTA64\IMSM (this is where it unpacks per default) -> include subfolders -> done
Note: your HDD must have been set to AHCI mode (within BIOS) before. If you have installed Vista x64 with the HD set to compatibility mode, changing then the mode to AHCI will result in BSOD on boot. So, to be able to install IMSM, you should firstly have installed Vista x64 with the HD already put in AHCI mode. And then you can switch back and forward between AHCI and compatibility mode at any time you want.
I believe there is also another way to install IMSM involving a bootable CD, but I am not familiar with it.
Hope this helps

EDIT: After having installed the IMSM driver, you will - of course - have to reboot and so will you be prompted to.

Reading your post again, I guess you have already gone through the installation steps as described above (and like on Lenovo website). The reason why Vista reports the driver as up-to-date and doesn´t want to proceed with the installation of IMSM is that your HD is set to compatibility mode right now (I´m quite certain of that
). If these installations steps really don´t work, I´m afraid you will have to reinstall Vista x64 with the HD set to AHCI mode before in order to be able to install the IMSM.

I am sorry for my poor English. My T60p is set to AHCI mode and not "compatibility mode" and yes I doubled checked. And yes I have done the steps as described in the read me, and I am told my drivers are up to date.

ThinkPad T60p T7600 4 GB RAM 320 GB 7200 RPM HD Vista Ultimate Service Pack 2 5.1 4.7 4.2 4.6 5.8I made a mistake. It is not the Intel(R) 828... subdevice under IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers in Device Manage which you have to update the driver of but there is a third subdevice there (I don´t remeber the name, but it is listed after the ATA Channel 0 and Intel(R) 828xx subdevices). After having installed IMSM this third device automatically gets renamed to Intel(R) ICH7M/MDH SATA AHCI Controller (or something like that). So, you will have to follow the same steps as stated above but for that specific third subdevice.
