Looking for help with QE/CI on T60p (ATI FireGL V5250)
Looking for help with QE/CI on T60p (ATI FireGL V5250)
I used finetuned kexts (thank you very much by the way) - I have a (i think) very similar setup, but i am having trouble getting QE/CI working. I have a t60p with the 5250 card and I am not sure if it is incorrect application of the VendorID/DeviceID or the EDID.
My DeviceID is (and I have modified ATIRaedonX1000.kext with this value)
0x71d41002.
My EDID (taken from a Monitor Information application in Windows) is (and I have modified ATIinject.kext with this value):
00FFFFFF FFFFFF00 244D8728 00000000 000F0103 80211578 0ACD7591 554F8B26 21505400 00000101 01010101 01010101 01010101 0101A82F 90E0601A 10402040 13004BCF 10000019 B72790E0 601A1040 20401300 4BCF1000 00190000 000F00B3 0A32B30A 28140100 4CA35833 000000FE 004C544E 31353450 322D4C30 350A00A7
This is the output from System Profiler and other than the video hardware acceleration everything is working wonderfully.

Is there anything I could try? I believe am loading the appropriate kext files from the boot-132 loader and they do not exist in my /System/Library/Extensions/ folder to make sure i don't have conflict issues.
Thanks,
Shawn

I have the same question with you. My thinkpad is T60P-2613CTO. There're rare posts about v5250 with QE/CI.
I remember there was a time Apple used the v5200 on a MacBook. Maybe that's the why v5200 has perfectly worked with QE/CI.
These two graphic card have slightly difference. The deviceID of v5250 is 0x71d4 whereas v5200 is 0x71c4.
I think I will make my v5250 compatible with QE/CI in several days.
Keep in touch.

OK: here are the kexts for 10.5.6 for the FireGL V5250 (1680x1050 resolution). ID: 0x71d41002.
You have to use all of the kexts at once. Also, try repairing permissions, and install the kexts using Kext Helper b7.

I have made it works following this post http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=48210
It works with QE/CI if the resolution is 1680x1050. But my screen is 1400x1050.
Now, the problem is the background of the menu is black. Here's the screen shoot describing what I'm encountering. http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=110204
I'm using iATKOS v4i 10.5.4 and the system can detect my graphics card.

Any advice would be insanely appreciated.

Yes, I know that problem. It's what happens when your graphics kexts are not of the same version, meaning you should use all ATI* kexts from the same Leopard version (eg 10.5.6).
Did you install all of the kexts I supplied above?

Re: Looking for help with QE/CI on T60p (ATI FireGL V5250)
Thought I would put a tickler out there -- anybody resolve the mouse tear problem on a T60p 2613CTO w/14" display (1400x1050x32)?
I've tried some of the kexts and suggestions from various boards, but can't seem to get resolution switching to work correctly (just blanks the screen blue and system is unresponsive) --- other than mouse tear, I'm stable and happy (1400x1050 resolution with QE / CI enabled; sound out works [no mic input]; power meter; wifi and ethernet good; screen saver works -- but no sleep / hibernate functionality).
I'll write up a tutorial for my 10.5.6 install with all the tweaks to hopefully help others, but really would like the mouse tear fixed -- it's annoying
Here's my info from from lspci:

Re: Looking for help with QE/CI on T60p (ATI FireGL V5250)
i've got t60p, 14"/1400x1050 with v5250 working fine- no mouse tearing
i can't remember where i got my drivers from - i don't use atinject - i think i just have some drivers with modified device id and some edid string in my boot plist?

Re: Looking for help with QE/CI on T60p (ATI FireGL V5250)
I'm on 1400x1050 t60p with v5250 - all working fine.
Modified device properties in:
/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist
Patched the KEXTs to recognise the device id for the v5250
All files should be in the following archive:
http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=2e6f ... f6e8ebb871
You can follow the instructions from here http://17th.name/2008/07/28/ati-firegl- ... r-leopard/ on how to install - i believe the kexts in my archive are ones i created myself (as in patched the hex based on instructions from insanely mac) - but i've had so many kexts that i really don't remember!
I'm currently on 10.5.7 with these kexts - mirroring and everything works as does QE/CI

this is a heck of a long shot, but is there any chance anyone out there still has the kexts that finetuned posted for the FireGL v5250? rapidshare and megaupload links are no more
