Been gaming, can a T41p have the buzzing fan noise problem?

I have had my T41p for about 2 weeks now and today I decided to load and play my first real game on it, MVP Baseball 2004. I turned all the graphics and sound quality settings all the way up and all was beautiful and sounded great. However, in about the bottom of the seventh inning I started hearing the fan louder than before, it would go loud for about 5 seconds then quieter for about 5 seconds then back and forth, loud soft loud soft.

It isn't all that annoying since I had my headphones on, but when I took them off of course I could hear the noise. I am wondering if it is possible to damage a T4x by gaming on it. Is this normal and I am just overworrying or should I be afraid that I might burn something up? Should I just play on and let the fan go back and forth like that?

I am now back in Windows of course and the fan is just back to being constantly on at a steady sound level, wait, it just went very quiet and is staying quiet.

The ThinkPad this concerns is a 2373GEU, any other gamers comments about gaming on this particular model, and your fan noise, is much appreciated.

Regards,
Max

You're just working the processor and the GPU. Don't worry about it, these machines are meant to keep at those kinds of levels longer than you can imagine. (I had my T40p kept at max running renderings for about 3 months straight--including while traveling, I just turned off standby/hibernating features and ran it with the lid closed) Just don't block the vents (the side one for sure but there are some on the underside, so keep it on a hard surface and not on a soft surface where the feet can't create some room) and do what you need to do :P
