since ibm is lagging with including firewire with the tp line (and only includes 2 usb ports, which I think is insufficienct nowdays), I need to get an external PCMCI card with firewire (and maybe usb connectivity).
I would be interested in hearing people's experience with these devices, particulalry whether its worth going for the new firewire 800 hardware or save $40-50 and go for the 400 standard. I intend to use firewire for CDDVD burning and for a large external HDD.
I also found a PCMCI card that claims to combine 2x USB2.0 and 2x firewire400 (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications ... 1&NoMapp=0). Does anybody have any experience with such device? - I read somewhere on the web that mixed usb-firewire devices are not yet reliable.
many thanks!
