7200rpm 9.5mm hard drives, 100GB?

#1 Post by Laurence Spiegel » Wed Feb 16, 2005 1:01 pm

Is such a thing due to be released soon? I would buy another 7K60, but if a 100GB is due out I'll wait. Seagate announced one in the pipeline - nearly a year ago.

The Seagates Momentus 5400.2 2.5" hard disk drive series has nearly the same good performance than the Hitachi 7k60 with 7200 rpm if I can believe a comparison made by PC Professional (the german "daughter" of the american PC Magazine). :)
The Seagate 5400 rpm drives are even available with a capacity of 100 GByte.
Unfortunately Hitachi still do not distribute the since last summer announced 5400 rpm drives with 100GByte so it seems they have some serious problems in making them.
Seagate announced 2.5" 7200rpm drives seem to been a joke. Nobody heard anything anymore after nearly 8 month of this announcement. I think to wait for these drives is really wasting time and I for myself can't believe it anymore, that they will get available even 2005! :x

Google for Seagate Momentus 5400.2 and you will find the specifiactions and supplier in your country.
