Can somebody help me here? Enabling Aero in Vista x64

#1 Post by A31 » Sat Jan 16, 2010 3:20 pm

H all...
Firstly, I'd just like to say I'm not doing this on a ThinkPad so I think I should post this topic under the "Off Topic" section.

Admin Edit: If its not a ThinkPad system problem, you should try here..... http://www.vistax64.com/

I want to enable Windows Aero in Vista Ultimate x64. The way you'd normally set about doing this would be to go into Personalize and go to Wiondows Colours and Appearence. A menu will then appear and you can just select like "Windows Aero" or "Windows Vista Basic" etc...

But when I select Windows Aero, it ALWAYS goes back to Vista Basic for some reason, and I am really not sure why. I think it might be becuase my copy of Vista isn't activated and I need to get a new serial from Microsoft soon. I really want to use features such as the Flip3D and the "graphite" setting rather than the defualt blue (which I don't like).

Optimising my computer for best appearence also do the trick either...
My specs (if that helps?)
.Vista Ultimate x64 (no service packs or anything, cannot install these as my copy of Vista isn't activated yet)
.allegedly 2GB RAM, though I am SURE that it only has 2x 512MB chips meaning 1GB RAM...odd!
.Pentium 4 HT
.400GB HDD
.nVIDIA GeForce 6200 graphics card with 256MB RAM Video memory

Thanks, A31
