bluetooth mouse must be reinstalled every boot, suspend

#1 Post by lucas » Sun Jan 24, 2010 12:29 am

I have an X200s running Windows 7 Professional 64. It has the OEM bluetooth adapter.

I like my Logitech V270 bluetooth mouse. I have used it in the past with an X60s (Windows XP SP3) and a T61 (Windows XP SP3) without any problems. I have never had to install any of Logitech's drivers to get the mouse to work, and I don't want extra drivers (nor the accompanying junk).

However, with the X200s running Windows 7, I have to reinstall the mouse every time I boot, suspend, or hibernate the laptop. It's incredibly frustrating.

I found the solution after an hour of agony. It's a bug with Lenovo's bluetooth drivers. If you use Microsoft's bluetooth drivers, this never happens.

(1) Make sure the bluetooth radio is turned on with the Fn+F5 radio manager.
(2) Open the Control Panel.
(3) Open System Properties. Select the "Hardware" tab and click "Device Installation Settings." Make sure "Yes, do this automatically" is selected. Save changes and close System Properties.
(4) Make sure you have internet access--Windows may need to download drivers.
(5) Open the Device Manager. Expand the list item named "Bluetooth Radios." Right-click each item and select uninstall. Once all Bluetooth devices have been uninstalled, click the menu item named "Action" and select "Scan for Hardware Changes."
(6) Windows will now install its own drivers for the Bluetooth adapter.
(7) Close the Device Manager and close the Control Panel.

At this point, my mouse just started working perfectly! However, you may need to add the device and pair it again.

I use an V270 with my X200 and Lenovo BT drivers under Win 7 Ulitmate x64, with no problems at all.

Whatever your problem is, its highly unlikely to just be the Lenovo driver!
