IBM optical travel Mouse

I just bought an IBM optical travel mouse for my T22 and it comes with a PS/2 convertor. I have an issue with the PS/2.......whenver I restart, the optical mouse would not be working. I need to turn off the laptop and unplug the mouse and plug it back and restart.
It work fine with USB, but I only have 1 USB and reserve it for other things. I have download the driver for the mouse.....it seems that it doesn't solve the problem.
