T500 WWAN and 1804 despite BIOS patch
T500 WWAN and 1804 despite BIOS patch
Hi,
I've been trying, unsuccessfully, to get a Dell-badged F3507g working in my new T500. I've applied the 3.09 BIOS update courtesy of Zender, but the 1804 error persists.
Does anyone with a T500 have any tips for getting 3rd-party WWAN working? I haven't tried taping pin 20 since I was under the impression that the BIOS patch obviated the need for that. Can anyone confirm whether that's the case? (Normally I'd try it, but I'm loathe to open my machine more than necessary due to the risks, albeit small ones, involved in the process.)
Thanks!
-Rob

Thanks for the response, darkrain, but I'm not really sure what you're proposing as a solution.
I did notice that you mentioned a Windows program though, which makes it a bit of a non-starter as I neither use nor have Windows on my ThinkPad.
Any other suggestions?

The Lenovo branded Ericsson F3507g is much more expensive than Dell branded F3507g.
Is it possible to use Dell branded F3507g in X200, T400 or must one do Bios hack etc?

Yes, the current Zender BIOS mod works fine. And yes, you can use a Dell-branded WWAN card just fine.

May I ask what's the "current" mod version that worked? I found only http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... er#p609922, which holds a 3.09 BIOS version, which didn't seem to work for you earlier.ThinkRob wrote:Please accept my apologies for not posting a follow-up.

3.09 does work. Turns out my flash was bad -- it completed successfully, but didn't seem to actually flash the BIOS. Repeating it did the trick.comps wrote: May I ask what's the "current" mod version that worked?
