A T42, an broadband connection, and an HP Officejet 4215...
walked into a bar...
I have a T42, and I just got an HP Officejet 4215 all-in-one printer, which you can see here:

Anyways, this printer has a fax machine in it also, and I was curious if there was any way to use it and have it fax thru my broadband connection.
I don't use a hard phone line, as I just use a cell phone, and having a fax would be great. It has a USB connection to the computer, and it also has tellephone ports, but as I mentioned, I won't be using those at all.
So, I was just wondering if there was any way, using a third party software or something, that I'd be able to send and received faxes thru this thing.
Thanks a lot,
Plink

I don't think you can fax through broadband, except I think there are Faxing services that you can send your document to and they send it out. I just use my phone line.
I once had a Sierra Wireless Air Card (slow) that supported fax in and out, but I put it aside for the Sony Ericsson Air Card (fast) that does not support fax.

Why doesn't it support FAX JD? Is it the high speed network that lacks support or the card itself?jdhurst wrote: once had a Sierra Wireless Air Card (slow) that supported fax in and out, but I put it aside for the Sony Ericsson Air Card (fast) that does not support fax.
Heck, even my Motorola cell phone supports FAX when connected to my laptop, although not on the high speed network.

Because you have to be able to access a phone line connected to a FAX machine.Plinkerton wrote:Why won't broadband support fax anyway? It doesn't seem like such a big deal. Fax is relatively old technology it seems.
Apples and oranges, even on an ADSL connection.

According to the documentation the Edge card does not support fax. It says I could use the call forward service to forward faxes to another phone number (say a fax machine). ...
