T42 SSD Write speed
T42 SSD Write speed
Hi!
I have bought a new Kingspec KSD-PA25 IDE 2,5 ssd to my T42. ( http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... TQ:US:1123 )
But when i installed the Windows XP, i dont feel any speed up.Ok the windows start about 15 second, but when i install something, its very, very slow. So i ran an hdd test, and the write speed was very low (2 Mb/s - 20 Mb/s). The read speed was ok (80 Mb/s)
I searched on the internet and found, i have to set something on my xp to works correcly. But i can found any helt to my laptop.
So someone can help me, what do i have to do?
Thanks
Robert
edit:
i correct it. Its very fast, when start the system, and start an aplication, but when two application start at the same time, the system is slow down, and some times lagging. the setup problem still is.When i install something, its very slow.

Re: T42 SSD Write speed
You really need to switch to Windows 7, which supports TRIM, and which will speed up SSD operations.
XP does not support TRIM, hence the slow(er) performance.

Re: T42 SSD Write speed
Google Flashfire, supposedly it was made for Acer Mini's with the old 8GB SSD drive. It makes the Mini SSD works very fast, maybe is worth a try on your machine. It optimizes cache
Current
T440p: Core i7-4710MQ|8GB RAM|Intel SSD S3700 200GB | 14.1" IPS FHD | Windows 7 Pro, T450 Trackpad, Backlit keyboard, 2nd Caddy
Past: T420 HD+, X61s XGA, T61 14" SXGA+, T42p 14.1 SXGA+, T30, A22e

Re: T42 SSD Write speed
I reinstalled Windows XP with fat32 partition. And the result is amazing!
The ssd faster what i imagine!
There is no laggs, and long setup times. The programs are installed on 1-2 sec.
Boot time is also good.
I will testing what coming next, but i think i solve the problem!
But i dont know the ssd why doesnt like NTSF partition, but honestly it doesnt matter.
OFF: there is one someting . The DPC latency normally on 500 us, what is pretty good, but when i turn on the wlan card its grow up to 2000 us. It will be a driver problem i think, but its a off topic so maybe on an other topic if i cant figure out.
