ATI Powerplay not working ...
I am typing this message with t42 on battery. I have the latest IBM ATI driver dated 7/6/04 installed. It's a 9600 chipset.
No matter what I do, the advanced display info says Powerplay is inactive and it's running in high performance mode.
I did a fresh windows install. Would that matter? Power scheme is max battery.

Did you mean that disabling the ATI hotkey poller would fix the problem [ati2evxx]? Unfortunately, I couldn't get this fix to work as well on my T43p.

T43p 2668
When I was reading this thread, I went to the Powerplay tab to try some things, and I found out that I could not enter Battery Saving Mode when I had Powerplay enabled. I checked the ATI Hotkey Poller service and it was set to Automatic and Started.
I know I'd seen Powerplay work OK in the past so I was stumped for a bit. I finally found out the problem was that the TV display (S-Video) was active, even though I had the TV turned off (the S-Video cable was connected to the TV though). When I turned off the TV display in the Display tab of Display Properties, then Powerplay began working properly.
