Would someone care to help the T43 community to solve their pulsating fan problem? Did someone in the R5X community contact IBM/Lenovo to make changes to their embedded controller to fix this problem?
I congratulate the Thinkpad R5X community for their success in convincing IBM/Lenovo to incorporate the changes in the Embedded Controller Program to version 3.03. I especially thank lophiomys for his efforts, and for including a website to describe the problem that was on the R50. http://lophiomys.gmxhome.de/Thinkpad_R5 ... Noise.html
Apparently the steps taken to remove the pulsating noise was to change the frequency of fan updates from 5 seconds to 30 seconds. I realize that the BIOS updates that apply to the R50 apply to the T series up to T42, but unfortunately the T43 uses a different embedded controller program that is still at version 1.05 (2/16/2006) http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... Thinkpad R50 distrubing fan noise / fan howling
@redchair
Thanks for the praise.
I'm not shure if I can help you, because I do not have a T43 at hands.
Does your T43 actually exhibit the pulsating fan noise?
If yes, could make a HQ recording for the irritating noise and publish it?
Did you inform your IBM dealer/support about the problem?
You could also start a complaint if dealer/support is not helping you.
If the Long Fan M10 is not installed yet, you could make IBM Support
to install a this fan, which is likely to reduce the pulsating noise
to inaudible levels. (This way it would save the warranty).
Maybe you post your issue in the T-Forum, as
to attract people with the same problem and together convince
the producer to keep electronic & ergonomic qualities
up to their standards.

I would like to make a recording, but I currently do not have any recording equipment. It really sounds a lot like the pulsating noise on your page.
I have not informed my dealer or support about the problem yet, but I plan on it. Is the procedure the same to request support and to file a complaint?
Unfortunately the Long Fan M10 (service part number 13R2657) seems to be available for only Thinkpads up until the T42/p.

There is an IBM service department where I purchased my laptop, but I do not know if I can just bring them my laptop and they will replace the fan.
Thanks for the help, I think I am going to focus on getting a recording, and finding a way to request that a similar change in the T43 1.05 embedded controller has to be made to match quality with the R50 embedded controller 3.03.
