What is your T2x's Max load temp?
Heres how to test this... download Prime95: http://mersenne.org/gimps/p95v2414.exe
download mobile meter: http://www.geocities.co.jp/SiliconValle ... mm0310.zip
Install P95, choose "just stress testing." go to Options, torture test. choose large FFT's and click ok. Extract the mobile meter EXE to your desktop and open it up, this will monitor your CPU temp, clockspeed, charge rate/discharge rate (something i really like) and HDD temp.
Post your system and configuration (HDD, RAM, CPU, Model) and the CPU/HDD temps, im curius as to what others are getting.
Ive got a T23, 1.2ghz p3-m, 1GB Ram, 60gb 5400RPM HDD.
Max load temp of CPU: 80C
HDD temp: 51C
The fan varies according to temps, and 80C is the highest itll let it go apparently. The memory cover is burning up as well. It is sitting on a wood desk during testing, no doubt it would get hotter on a bed or the like.
seems to have stabalized at 72-3C now.

49 bootup
beginning to burn lap...
run2.. 68deg or so...
I dunno how this can be remotely good for the laptop..
70c...
(yes im very bored now)
72C fan kicks in.
Yes, seems like 72 is max and fan is on.
Specs
T20 850mhz, 256mb ram.
T21 hsf (spring one)
850mhz CPU running at 700 due to speedstep and 56watt adapter when I need a 72 watt one. So that should be some considerable underclocking.

I don't test on Prime95, but use F@H, or Folding At Home, from Stanford University.
My latest T23 maxes out at 75 degrees C, but at the same time, my tiny apartment was at 88-90 degrees F. I usually use F@H to test a rig before I sell it.
Speaking of cooling on the T2* stuff, does anyone know a way to make the fan spin ALL THE TIME, in Windows? I run 2000, and I see the fanshutting down, and re-starting all the time.
Thanks for the link on mobmeter. I've been running it, ever since I got my first T20. (I would run MBM, but it isn't supported on a Thinkpad.)

I think Prime95 is not enough to obtain the max. temperature because Prime95 don't stress the video card too. A game will do that.

the T2x does not have active cooling on the video card and it runs at full throttle all the time.
its not going to add much, if any, heat.
you can run ATItool along with prime if you want, but thats up to you.

Hmm, I didn't know that; shame on me, I have a T22. Probably is the same on my T41 because I see Powerplay is disabled when AC adapter is plugged in (high performance mode).

T23: 1.2GHz 1GB RAM 60GB 5200 RPM.
Start 100% CPU load test, ambient temp around 75F
Fan kicks in at 80C
Temp levels out at 66C
Stop load test
Fan turns off at 47C
Idle temp levels out at 38C
I set up some video to render, which keeps the CPU pegged at 100% per XP's task manager. I just Arctic Silvered the CPU/heatsink last nights, so I expect that temp will drop by a couple degrees as the AS cures.

The max temperature for my laptop is 69c! Can't go higher than that.......by the way, how long should I run this thing? Any side effects on my laptop?

Nothing wrong with it - its meant to take that, otherwise it would never pass CQ.

I've used the Thinkpad T43 fan control utility V0.18 to control the fan speed.
I have a T23 1.0ghz 2647-6RU. Keeps the temp <53C. I've used it for a few months now without stability issues.
