Well UC 5.32 was 5MB larger

Well, updated from 5.32. It failed to connect to the IBM server for the first attempt, but worked for the second one. It's still really slow. I can't understand why IBM is not able to do a quick updater like Windows Update.

At least it worked for you, all I got was "An error occurred while gathering information about your system. Please contact the IBM HelpCenter".

Yeah, that's the message I got for the 1st time. I just tried it for the 3rd time. It took a 7 minutes nap at 66%, but worked. Looks like IBM made a tiny progress in G-Man's favor.

5.32 works for me on my NetVista. 6.1 does not work for me on my ThinkPad. Won't get past 66% (which is the common complaint for Update Connector). IBM software quality has hit rock bottom since they discontinued their forums. Rule 1 for business: Pay attention to the people who complain even if you don't like them.

I can tell you why update connector does not work, i got the exact same problems as you guys said, it due to two factors:

1) the time you logon to UC, if its high traffic time for the IBM server(s) it won't work
2) My firewall (Zonealarm) blocks access to FTP's when i shut down this it works fine... since UC downloads the files from a IBM FTP UC won't work

Does anyone know where there's a list of UC-supported models? I still can't get UC to work with my A21p and I'm not sure if UC originally came with it. (I'm 99.99% sure that earlier releases of UC, e.g. 3.x, did work with my A21p.)

Richard's link says "This web download of IBM Update Connector 6.10 is for use only by IBM systems that came preloaded with IBM Update Connector." Is that a technical or licensing issue?

UC 5.32 never worked on my Netvista. UC 6.1 works fine, even with my firewalls (hardware in the router and ZoneAlarm) both active.

The new version finally worked on my ThinkPad. I tried several times, and early in the tries, I enabled through my Symantec Client Security firewall settings. Per T41mbi's post, the other failures may have been due to timing. But it did finally work.

So then I upgraded my NetVista to Version 6.1 and it worked fine there as well.

Both my NetVista and ThinkPad came preloaded with an earlier version of Update Connector, so I can't tell if a preloaded version is a requirement.
