How do I assign the Thinkpad key?
How do I assign the Thinkpad key?
For some reason my thinkpad button does absoulutely nothing when I press it. Is there anyway to assign it to something useful?

You can actually configure the button to do whatever you wish. Firstly though, you should install the Hotkey package from the website.
To customize it for your needs, open regedit and go to HKLM\software\IBM\TPhotkey\8001 (thats the thinkpad button code) and set the string value to whatever you want the button to open
eg: file "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE"
ps. If you are not familiar with editing the registry - take heed - mistakes in the registry can cause havoc on your system...

Darn. I was hoping this "8001" key could be used to launch a single-button Lock desktop command, but it doesn't seem to work.
Meantime, one handy alternative program to use there is "C:\Program Files\ThinkPad\Utilities\TP98.EXE".
Before editing, I would suggest REMAMING the "File" string key to something like "old_File" and then create a new "File" string key.
As always, make a backup of your Registry before editing directly.

Thanks for your very interesting link.
Does anyone know if the KeyTweak (also changes Windows Registry) can re-map the "Thinkpad" button? (That way, you don't need the ThinkPad Button Customiser which is a one-trick pony...)
