Linksys WRT54G + Intel 2915 in T43 2687DDU = Bad mix
Just swapped to a D-Link 524 and I stopped having "Wireless hates you" issue now... Something incompatable there. Plus my wireless card was fried (Replaced still had issues)
Don't get the WRT54G if you plan to get the Intel 2915.

I have also recently replaced my Linksys wireless router with a D-Link 524 and I have never been happier. I now have a rock solid wireless setup that does not drop clients at intervals throughout the day. I kept my Linksys updated with all the latest updates but still had connection drop issues. The D-Link has none of these issues and has a better wireless signal with one antenna then the Linksys had with two??

YES! Go with another card, or another router and you won't go through physco problem land like meSTS06 wrote:Sorry if I sound ignorant but what do you mean? Are you advising us not to use a particular router with the Intel WLAN card? Thanks for clearing things up though!
Wireless signal weakens and clients drops as well.
Hi,
I have the same router + WiFi card (T43p with 2915) and had issues and disconnects ever since I got the router. Just when I was sure I was going crazy, I found this post, so switching to D-Link will make it better? What about the wifi card freidness ? I suspect mine has also gone mad.
Under Ubuntu for example, even close to the router and in vision range (as stated by the linksys manual) I get the signal dropped from 54 to 48 to eventually completely disconnect. I also found somewhere in another forum a hint to set the router to operate only on -G and set it static on 54mbps instead of "Auto" for the transmission speed. This appeared to have helped, but recently I started using the wifi again and it does again hate me! Can anyone suggest why this is happening? Seems to me too many crippels in one machine (e.g. SATA-PATA bridge issue)

I'm running both BG2200 and ABG2915 cards in T41 and T43 Thinkpads with a Linksysy WRT54G router and get excellent reliability and performance, so its not an endemic problem with the combination.
Changing the router may or may not impact whatever your particular issue is.
Cheers,
Bill
Not all wrt54g/gs are the same.

I have a wrt54GL (same as wrt54G v 4 (linux based)) and an Intel 2915 card.
I also had connection dropouts but changing the security from WPA-tkip to WPA2 AES did the trick for me. I also uploaded 3rd party firmware (Thibor) in the Linksys and set the transmit power to 100%; maybe that helped too.
There's a sticky about this:
