memory upgrade

#1 Post by sammi » Wed Jul 04, 2007 6:05 pm

i have a lenovo n100 3000 and it says i can get it up to 2gb upgrade. Currently i have 1 gb (2 X 512). If i wanted to upgrade to 2 gb, do i have to buy 2 X 1gb stick? Or can i just buy one 1 gb stick and keep my 2 X 512 memory inside?

Yes, you need to remove the two 512MB sticks already in there to make room for the two 1GB sticks.

There are only two slots so you would need to replace at least one. You could upgrade to 1.5 GB by replacing one existing 512 MB DDR2 module, or to 2 GB by replacing both.

You can then sell your existing 512 MB DDR2 module(s) on these forums or on eBay to recoup some of your costs ...

No, you need 2 X 1 GB sticks to achieve total of 2GB memory since your notebook has only two slots.

And the great thing is that all the answers agree with each other, too ...
