T-42's There Back!!!

Just noticed T-42's back up at IBM's website. I need help! Just when i thought i wanted the 15" i'm having second thought's. I'm looking at SXGA. Any help? It's between the 2378-DXU (15") or the 2378-FVU (14")
The DXU has the HD i want (7200rpm) but i think i like the size of the FVU!!

Thats great, I want to order one online so I can get the free shipping... but there is no option to extend the warranty!!! What gives?? 1yr just isn't enough Do i need to call up and do this or what?

Adding two years to your EZServe (depot) service for $125.40 is a no-brainer!

I'm English, the owner of a Fiat UNO, and I have a beard - even after all these amazing things, I still can't figure out what "No brainer" means.

I might have to buy a T42 to console myself...

Ian,

That's because "English", "FIAT owner" and "no-brainer" are redundancies!

I.e., the decision was so simple that it didn't require a brain to make it.

It's a better to buy the 2379DXU for $100 more to get the 3-year warranty rather than to buy the 2378DXU and spend $125 to upgrade the warranty.

depot repair or 9x5 onsite/next buisness day?

does the depot repair take a really long time compared to the next day service? i never sent it in.. always took it to service center down the street.

The t42p is back but not 2373KTU.

I can access the specs on it, but no link to actually purchase one so I can't see how MC discounts and the like work out.

Difficult to answer without knowing where you're located. Here in the US it is very rare for EZServe to take more than two days to get a repaired unit back to me.

E.g., shipped off Monday via Airborne, returned repaired Wednesday morning.

My experience with Depot repair has been excellent - 2 days without the machine. I wouldn't pay extra for 9x5.

For me the price difference between the 2373-3VU and the 2374-3VU was $70 and the only difference was that the 2374 had on site, considering i was already spending over $2100, $70 was nothing

For T41 models with 1 year warranty, one can add 3 year warranty in the same order. By going through one of the discount stores, extending 1 year depot to 3 year depot costs $118.80.

Has anyone found a way to do this with T42 models?

The problems with the posted link are:

- T42 isn't listed!

- Costs $125.40 versus $118.80

- There is wording "IBM will provide these warranty service upgrades to you only if you are acquiring these services for machines which are normally used for business, professional, or trade, rather than personal, family, or household purposes."

We've addressed this many times in the past and there are several ways to meet this "requirement". Personally, I had always simply pointed to my published body of work and told them I was a writer. Never had any problems with getting next day service on the units I have with such coverage.

However, there are similar plans offered for non-business users......

Well, I just went to check the home user offerings at: http://www.pc.ibm.com/us/accessories/se ... protection but the links are dead again.

I don't know if that means they're no longer being offered or it simply means they're being upgraded.
