Dialing Phone numbers from MS Outlook

Hi,
I would like to use my modem to dial phone numbers in Outlook so that I do not have to punch the numbers in to my desk phone all day.

But since the built in modem does not have two phone jacks I can not make it work.

I have tried splitting the line but Outlook will not hand off the line from the computer to the deskphone.

I tried a USB headset but Outlook also will not hand off to the headset.

Any ideas on how to make this work?
