I've got a T60p with all current firmware, drivers, etc., running WinXP. This has happened a handful of times on this notebook, and I think it happened before on an older Thinkpad:
I'll pop a CD or DVD in, and the disc just won't be read. Nothing ever shows up in Windows Explorer, it's just like there's nothing there. I can right click the DVD drive, and eject the disc from there. But it won't read it.
This isn't a burned disc, it's a factory install disc (SQL Server in this case). A reboot always fixes it. I'll reboot, and the disc will read as normal.
Any ideas? Thanks!

I am quoting a person with great knowledge:
Your mentioned problem could be unrelated to it and above solution wouldn't necessarily has to work for it.GomJabbar wrote:Check to see if you have DLA enabled on your drives. Open My Computer, right click on your DVD drive and choose Properties > DLA. Make sure box is unchecked to Enable DLA on your drives. See if this helps.

If none of above helps and if your Thinkpad is still under warranty, you can request IBM (1-800-426-7378 24/7!) for a replacement.
