A30P motherboard work with an A30 SXGA 15in screen?

I have a motherboard from a A30P and a bad motherboard (GPU flaked) in an A30 with a almost ''perfect'' LCD (one pixel dead that I can see).

If it can be done... What do I need to complete the swap?

Yes I have the HMM and no I'm not afraid to to tear it apart (I've done 3 Dell Latitudes already) and I have all the little baggies I need for all the different little screws.

Any s, help or insights would be most appreciated.

It will work. Just a new cable for SXGA+ resolution and you're all set...

Yes . Used them at NASA-Ames Research Center back in the early to mid '70s. I probably still have the card decks that I had punched out from a FORTRAN Star Trek program that was running on the IBM mainframe.

P.S. Just remembered the pranks I used to pull in high school using the chaff that I collected from those machines

Yeah, sure. I probably punched 40 or 50k lines of code out on an 029. S/360 Assembler, Fortran IV, PL/I + a lot of the about worst "programming language" ever, OS/360 JCL.

OS/360 JCL??? I didn't think anyone would still admit that they even knew about it much less programmed in it.

I learned "real quick" why we put the diagonal line down the top of card decks (AFTER dropping a full card box of student programs/lessons taking it down to the school district office to run).

I've got a couple of thousand lines on a 029... I started on an 026, but no one remembers that one.

Never really liked FORTRAN 4, '77 with HP extensions worked so much better.

!!! I think I still have that on an old 2400ft reel tape (FORTRAN 4) along with a couple other games (chess, checkers, artillery (the original Scorched Earth)).

The A3x Hardware Maintenance Manual says that the A30 15" SXGA+ cable is a 27L0682.

I've retained *zero* memory of the JCL. I was also an RJE operator on some Westinghouse terminals back in the day at Ames. Never dropped a card deck , although I had to re-punch many cards that got jammed in the hopper. Man, I can still remember the sound of that card feeder...

Last punch card was done at Texas A&M. Our machine ran BASIC.

Last JCL was used loading tape and outputting to a flatbed plotter for the monthly run of PERT/CPM on our computer design project at TI.

Not sure on the FW will see how it's configured after I get it (not able to get to it until tomorrow)...
The A30 2652-35U has a plastic "cover" over the S-video "in" port that I can easily cut out.

Cutting a notch is one option. That hole is actually a glued on piece. Or use a sub-card without the Firewire connector. Because that port doesn't provide power, I never find it useful.

The S-Video port cover is just a stick on piece like screw covers.

1394 no power... Don't need it as I don't have digital video and there is not much else that uses it. As long as I can use a USB port for the camera, I'm happy.

Okay, Replacement MB I got was actually an A30 2654-BC2 NOT an A30P as I thought so there was no problem doing the R&R. Used small medicine Ziploc bags marked with a permanent marker to keep each sub-assembly's screws together (something I've used for a couple decades in electronics). Everything works correctly and the screen no longer does "weird" things. PC-Doctor reports that video fine.

The only thing that may confuse anyone is if you look up the system type on Lenovo website you come up with different specs (processor speed, screen type & resolution, etc.).
