T43 QWXGA
Re: T43 QWXGA
I'm probably dense here but how does the linked article help the OP? The article basically says that DVI on the port replicator may or may not support resolutions higher than 1280x1024.
Even if DVI doesn't work, there is the VGA port. But the real question is whether there is a video driver for the T43 that supports the currently very odd 16:9 QWXGA resolution.

Hi,
citizenNB
well, it helps in this way, that Arius now know there is no defintive answer to his question. That's all.basketb wrote:I'm probably dense here but how does the linked article help the OP?
The quality of image via VGA port is very poor, especially with this high resolution.basketb wrote:Even if DVI doesn't work, there is the VGA port.
For that problem the article present an approach with PowerStrip.basketb wrote:But the real question is whether there is a video driver for the T43 that supports the currently very odd 16:9 QWXGA resolution.

Re: T43 QWXGA
That is not entirely true. Get a good VGA cable and the difference is not very noticeable, if at all. (Maybe that also depends on the Thinkpad VGA out and monitor VGA in, but) on my A31p connected through the Dock II with a WUXGA monitor, VGA does not look noticeably worse than the DVI out.citizenNB wrote:...The quality of image via VGA port is very poor, especially with this high resolution...

Re: T43 QWXGA
You could try the Omega drivers. Not sure if they support 2048×1152 format though.

Re: T43 QWXGA
I bought a Samsung 2343BWX tonight at Costco, just finished setting it up. It was completely plug-and-play with my T42, no driver witchcraft needed. Windows XP's display properties dialog detected the monitor's native resolution and presented it as an option in the drop-down. Couldn't have been easier.
The monitor itself is awesome. Very bright, slightly greater pixels per inch than my T42's SXGA+ display. Some light leakage from the CCFL on the right side, but overall an impressive display.
