Photo of X41 Tablet motherboard?
Photo of X41 Tablet motherboard?
Does anyone have a decently high-res photo of the X41 Tablet motherboard? I'm specifically looking for the connection point where the LCD connects into the MB.
Thanks!

Re: Photo of X41 Tablet motherboard?
Hey,
I have my X41 Tablet completely disassembled at the moment, so i took the pictures for you.
board area
connector
If you want any other viewing angles or maybe pictures of the connectors or cables inside the LCD assembly, just give me a hint, I've ripped it apart too.

Can you take a picture of:
a. The ribbon cable & connectors if you can
b. The connection point where the ribbon connects to the LCD panel itself
c. The LCD panel itself - back & sides. I hear I'm going to have to modify the panel quite a bit. I think the screw connection points might be 100% different.
THANKS THANKS THANKS!!

Re: Photo of X41 Tablet motherboard?
More and more good info. Looks like I'm close.
The mount point for the LCD looks exact, and the cable looks like a match. For reference, I spotted these ebay pages:
http://images.wfpcorp.com/Laptops/LCD/LCD-00122_01.jpg
http://cgi.ebay.com/IBM-Thinkpad-X31-LC ... 500wt_1182
The cables also both appear to be 20-pin ribbons (I was wondering how they transitioned the ribbon to the MB - much like the hacked IDE cables you used to see around).
The troubling part is the Wacom digitizer plane that looks sandwiched in between the LCD and the LCD controller board - that's tricky. Does it look like that would be fairly easy to extract? Otherwise I'll have to dremmel the heck out of it, and that won't be very fun.
Anyone know where to get those black circle things that cover the screws?
Can you take measurements of it for me? Width, Height, and approx. Depth? I'm pretty sure I'm going to pull the trigger. More surgery than I was hoping for, but I'm game.

Re: Photo of X41 Tablet motherboard?
I tore down my machine today (it was hot out!), and snapped some photos. Turns out my screen is different from the one on eBay, in that there's no 2nd PCB on the back (odd), but I'm convinced that the connectors are the same, and that the transplant will work. The main problem is getting the X31's support frame transferred over to the X41 Tablet's LCD without damaging the fine wires on the LCD - no small feat - because there are no side screw holes (or frame) that the X31 needs to attach to the top lid.
Anyway, just more mental exercising.

The removal of the digitizer is described in the X41 Tablet Hardware Maintenance Manual, doesn't seem to be a problem, just the screws and a piece of double sided tape between the digitizer and the panel.
You can find the measurements in the Datasheet

Got it. Looks like it's game on - my best offer ($90) was accepted for a screen.
