I am purchasing a w700ds. I would like to know which processor would be best for me. Either the T9900 duo, or the Q9000 quad
I will be getting the 1G NVIDIA 3700 and 4G of ram
Primary usage: CAD design and 3d Rendering
Programs:
Soft Plan
Soft View
Autocad
Sketchup
Photoshop
Secondary usage: Music + Video playback, light editing. Internet usage, online video (tv programs, movies)
I need this to be a long-term investment, can't afford to replace in 2 years.
Which processor makes the best sence for me?
Thank you.

duo core T9900 vs quad core Q9000 in W700ds
Re: duo core T9900 vs quad core Q9000 in W700ds
Anything that is CPU intensive and can use multiple cores will benefit from a quad core, but they bring extra heat and less battery life if you care. Probably the best upgrade you can make for general purposes is a SSD, then you've got another bay for a storage drive.

If it's a long-term purchase, you might want to wait a few...days it looks like until the refreshed W701 comes out. Then you'll have a choice of the new Core i5 and i7 CPU's.ziwiki wrote:I am purchasing a w700ds. I would like to know which processor would be best for me. Either the T9900 duo, or the Q9000 quad

Re: duo core T9900 vs quad core Q9000 in W700ds
I would definitely recommend the quad processor.
I have a Thinkpad W700ds with the QX9300 and the processor has been great!
I am adding a W510 to my working environment because there are times when I need to travel "light" and the Thinkpad W700ds is anything BUT light!
It is a great machine and it should give you years of productive use.
Best Regards,
Shane
