Opening x100e access panel: Any gotchas?

#1 Post by codedivine » Wed May 12, 2010 3:19 pm

I want to upgrade the RAM in my X100e. According to reviewers, it should be easy to upgrade RAM. Any gotchas to look out for while opening the X100e? I have opened many laptops before but never a Thinkpad. I heard that they use some special screws and may need replacement after opening? Is that true and applicable for X100e?

It seems unlikely, but I've not seen one. If you're unsure, you can watch the video showing how to do it on the support and training website.

Thanks. I too hope it should be simple (i.e. the usual way of opening a laptop access panel) given that people have upgraded various components but no one has described any problems.

It's relatively simple, the older thinkpads are much easier to open though. Just unscrew everything, they shouldn't pop out, lift the panel using the indentation, needs some force to lift but it won't break anything.

Ok I upgraded the RAM and everything went very smoothly. Just as control had described, the back panel required a little (and only a little) force.
