Imaging problem: stop 0x7E

#1 Post by blanalex » Thu Jan 20, 2011 7:41 am

We got a batch of X100e's (MT: 3508-28F) and I'm trying to image them using our XP-based standard image.

I've tried many variations and I always end up with a BSOD, stop 0X7E (0xC0000005,0XF76A2756,0xF79B942C,0xF79B9128).

My latest attempt to isolate the problem is the following:
  1. Install Windows XP SP3 from a USB key (usb key made with WinSetupFromUSB. The AMD ahcix86 had been patched into the setup prior to WinSetupFromUSB.
  2. Once Windows installed, I added my driver library from a USB key and everything got detected. No exclamation or question marks in the device manager.
  3. Ran sysprep to reseal the machine.
  4. After the sysprep, ghosted the resulting image to a VMWare machine.
  5. After imaging, both the X100e and the VMWare machine are running perfectly.
  6. I sysprep/reseal the VMware machine with the exact same sysprep configuration as in step 3.
  7. Ghost over the sysprep'd to the X100e
  8. STOP: 0x0000007E (0xC0000005,0xF76A2756,0xF79B942C,0xF79B9128)
In sysprep.inf, I do have [SysprepMassStorage] section with the PCI ids for the AHCI device, referencing ahcix86.inf.

Any ideas?
