15" Screen Brightness of Whites

#1 Post by tdlpad » Mon Feb 28, 2011 2:53 pm

Just wondering if it is my bad luck or what. Recently acquired a T-42 and a T42p with 15" screens. Under full brightness they are not near as white as the screens on my 14.1" T42 or my T30 or my T23. Possible inverter or backlight going bad or is that the tendency?

If they are LG-Philips LCDs, those have a tendency to turn yellowish after ca. 2 years.
IDTech LCDs stay the clearest/brightest, followed by Boe-Hydis, followed by Samsung.
Not all these brands are necessarily available in your specific model.

It's really about what one is used to.

I understand what you're saying, tdlpad...but what you refer to as "white" most IPS addicts would call "washed out"...

Yes washed out would be accurate. The greens and blues on the XP wallpaper are just not as vivid on the 15" versus the others. The whites on my 14.1 screens are so bright and vivid I usually have them turned down one level especially at night.
