Things a new X100e owner should know?
Things a new X100e owner should know?
Just bought an X100e for $260. High price, I know, but it's one of the later L625 dual-core models that seem to be rather uncommon, plus is in the 3GB/250GB configuration.
Now that everyone's had a couple years to consider these things, what should I do or watch out for? Other than burning my lap. Didn't know if there were particular issues to fix, or drivers I should avoid, etc.

Get the latest ATI Catalyst drivers for Windows from the URL above (first link is for 64bit) every month, change the 11-# to 11-month_number, i.e. 11-6 is 2011-June.
I use Internet Explorer 9 as the X100e runs WAY COOLER than with Chrome or Firefox.
I personally love the X100e (L625, 4GB, 60GB) - I've upgraded to an SSD for some speed, heat and battery improvements.

Does the X100e need any specific Lenovo software to work properly? Other than drivers, I mean. On my other Thinkpads I've always cleared out the various utilities that are of limited value.

Look at the Chrome graph. It does all sorts of funky things with your hardware.

What should you know?
1) It's a great travel machine - fast and light, especially with an SSD.
2) It accepts both the Gobi 2000 WWAN adapter and the Intel 6350 ABGN/WiMax adapter so you can connect to pretty much any carrier on Earth for broadband service.
3) The 3 cell battery last about 60-90 minutes.
Enjoy it.

I think you can do better than that...underclocker wrote:3) The 3 cell battery last about 60-90 minutes.

Re: Things a new X100e owner should know?
It was nearly 2 hours when new, but it appears to be degrading rapidly. If I'm traveling and will be away from a power source for long, I bring both the 3 cell and the 6 cell batteries. That does the trick!
