Unable to turn off the display
Unable to turn off the display
I have an L412 bought around 10 months ago.
I have set the Fn+F3 option in the power manager to turn off the display.
But it doesn't work most of the times. It just unselects the current window.
Please help.
Thank you

Re: Unable to turn off the display
Try running PWMOSDV.EXE , which should be located somewhere on your C: drive.
I made a copy of this called 'MonitorOFF.exe' and setup a shortcut on my desktop to it.
Easy to use way to turn off the monitor if your Fn+F3 key combo doesn't work.

I did locate this file and tried to run it.
But nothing happens.

Just how did you run it? DOS window, from Explorer, icon on desktop?
The two ways that I use are from either a DOS window via typed in command or from a batch file, and from an icon on the desktop.
After you invoke the command, be sure you don't move anything, such as the mouse, or you'll wake up the monitor before it can go to sleep and turn off.
This works for me in both WinXP and Win7 Pro. I don't know if it'll work in other versions of Windows, but I suspect it will in some.
Re: Unable to turn off the display
I did try from DOS, desktop and explorer as well.
Result is the same. The window through which I open the file is only deselected.
i.e. it's not the active window anymore.
Nothing else happens.
